Shayla T. | Palmer Scholars Alum, 2016

One of the most impactful parts of Shayla's Palmer Scholars experience was being surrounded by mentors and leaders who genuinely wanted to see her succeed. Their encouragement, guidance, and belief in her made a lasting difference in her life. It was especially meaningful because she wasn't used to having that kind of support system around me.
Through Palmer Scholars, Shayla learned the value of community, mentorship, and the power of people investing in your future. Those experiences helped shape the confidence and determination she still carries today.
Today, she is finishing her first year at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences School of Dental Medicine, proudly serving as part of the program's inaugural class.
Shayla's advice to current and future Palmer Scholars is simple:
Never hesitate to ask for help. Everyone here wants to see you succeed and will do whatever they can to support you. The connections you build now will matter more than you realize. One day, you'll have the opportunity to give back to the same community that believed in you and helped you reach your goals.
The support you receive today can become the inspiration you pass on tomorrow.
