Riyad C. | Palmer Pathways Cohort 12 Graduate

When did you start at Palmer Scholars?
I became a Palmer Scholar in July of 2025 and was part of Pathways Cohort 12.
Describe Your Experience with Palmer Scholars
Palmer Scholars was honestly the best thing for me coming straight out of graduating high school. It gave me direction when I really needed it and helped me see what I was capable of and also getting a perspective of what it’s like to be in the trades. Being part of Palmer Scholars gave me structure, guidance, and a strong support system with people who genuinely wanted to see me succeed. Anyone who was like me looking for direction or a fresh start, I believe palmers will give you the guidance you are looking for.
Please share where you are currently at in your life
I recently graduated from Navy Recruit Training Command and I’m now in A-School training to become an Electrician’s Mate (EM). I’m in an amazing position to set up my future. I’m stable, focused, and continuing to train and learn. I’m grateful for the foundation Palmer helped me build because it definitely played a role in the mindset I have and where I am today.
Any advice you have for current and future Palmer Scholars cohorts
Take the opportunity seriously, show up on time at least 15 minutes early, ask questions and make sure to actually apply what they teach you. The program gives you all the tools you need but you have to be a go-getter and use them the right way. If you commit to it, it can truly change the direction of your life completely.
